PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gloss coating composition capable of obtaining a color feeling in the shade part, emphasizing difference in color between the highlight part and the shade part, giving yellowish color in the middle part, and showing trichroic design by the difference in the angle to see the coated film, a method for forming coating film, and a coated product. SOLUTION: This trichroic coating composition is a coating composition containing a vehicle, an interfered gloss pigment (a), a mixture of minute particles of titanium dioxide and aluminum flakes (b), and a sintered compound oxide pigment (c), and the interference color of the interfered gloss pigment (a) and the color of the sintered compound oxide pigment (c) are not in similar shade, and both the interference color of the interfered gloss pigment (a) and the color of the sintered compound oxide pigment (c) are in the range of -20 to -50 or +20 to +50 in Munsell hue circle display, where the color 10Y is taken 0, and displayed counterclockwise to +50, and clockwise to -50, for Munsell hue circle 100.
