A plasma display panel is provided to improve the contrast of the panel by forming a black matrix composed of a first black matrix and a second black matrix. A first electrode is formed in parallel with a second electrode on a front substrate(10). A third electrode is formed to intersect the first and second electrodes on a rear substrate(20). Barrier ribs(21) are formed on the rear substrate. The first and second electrode are transparent electrodes(11a,12a) and bus electrodes(11b,12b), respectively. A black matrix formed on the front substrate has a first black matrix(15) superposed with the barrier ribs, and second black matrix(11c,12c) formed between the transparent electrode and the bus electrode. |
