In the present invention, there is disclosed a method of treating cereal kernels to decrease their mould content, said method comprising transporting the kernels to a heating station, exposing the kernels to heat at such a temperature for such a period of time that the mould content of the kernels decreases but germinating capacity remains, wherein the temperature of the kernels to be treated is raised to a temperature of 60 to 100 degC for a period of 0.5 to 30 seconds, and cooling the kernels. The above-described method is used for the treatment of kernels intended for germination as well as cereals intended for storage. |
