PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating and forming the paint film of a fuel cell material easily and uniformly on the inner periphery of a substrate tube. SOLUTION: In this coating method of a fuel cell material, a solid electrolyte material slurry 15 fed into a substrate tube 10 through a slurry feed pipe 11 is moved while being extruded into the substrate tube 10 by the rotation of a screw rod 13 and being rubbed on the inner wall of the substrate tube 10 by a scraper 12 having rubber elasticity. The material slurry 15 is moved while being rubbed on various parts of the inner periphery at a uniform pressure by the flexibility of the scraper 12, and the paint film 16 of the solid electrolyte material slurry 15 is formed at the uniform film thickness. The discharge position of the material slurry 15 from the slurry feed pipe 11 is adjusted when the material paint film 16 is formed only at the desired position in the longitudinal direction of the substrate tube 10.
