摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the hydrogen economically and favorably by using a catalyst in which a carbon depositing activity is suppressed at the synthetic gas production stage in the hydrogen production method composed of a stage in which a synthetic gas is produced by allowing a carbon- containing org. compd. to react with steam and the stage in which the hydrogen is concentrated from the obtained synthetic gas. SOLUTION: In a hydrogen production method comprising a step in which the synthetic gas is produced by allowing the carbon-containing org. compd. to react with the steam at high temp. and under pressure in the presence of the catalyst and a step in which the hydrogen in the obtained synthetic gas is concentrated, the catalyst carrying at least one kind catalytic metal selected among rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, palladium and platinum on a carrier consisting of metal oxide, in which an electronegativity of a metal ion in the metal oxide is <=13.0 and a specific surface area of the catalyst is <=25 m<2> /g and a carrying amount of the catalytic metal per carrier metal oxide is 0.0005-0.1 mol.% expressed in terms of metal is used as the catalyst for producing the synthetic gas.
