A toy, having an elastic covering stretched on a rigid shell comprising an assembly of moulded pieces, is made by successively inserting the pieces in the covering, which is slightly smaller than the shell and so grips it elastically, and closing the covering over the shell pieces, which may or may not be partly assembled before they are inserted in the covering. The shell may be of moulded plastics and the covering present the external aspect of plush. A particular embodiment is an animal with four legs, whose shell comprises three pieces: a body and head, a pair of fore legs, and a pair of hind legs; each pair of legs being provided with a housing adapted to fit into a complementary housing in the body, and held in position with a screw. In this case one pair of legs is first attached to the body, both pairs of legs are then inserted separately into the covering, the other pair of legs is attached to the body, and the body and head are finally covered with the covering. The process of Specification 1,151,591 is disclaimed. |
