Extrusion and expansion are conducted continuously while at least a part of the extruded product is cooled to form an unexpanded skin. It consists of the same material as the product and is molecularly joined to the expanded interior. Objects are then formed directly using extrusion heat to facilitate moulding. Specifically the cooling surfaces are coated with an anti-friction material.
