Esters or synthetic resins are dissolved in solvents and mineral, synthetic or organic dyes ae used as colouring agents, mixed in volume and type and then applied to parts of the picture being frmed. Typically a mixture comprises 15 pbw. polystyrene, 10 pbw plasticiser, 70 pbw solvent and 5 pbw dye. A plate with pots of the various colours is used and can be swivelled or tilted in all directions to control or produce random, mixed and colour effects on the paper.
