Oil/water emulsions are produced by simultaneously injecting both components into a box through atomising sprays and then feeding the mixture to a cavitation pump. The two series of nozzles are mounted opposite to each other. The emulsion coming from the mixer box is held in a vessel, round which it is circulated by the cavitation pump. This can be reciprocating or multi-stage rotary. Used for creating oil water emulsions for use as fuel. The injection of water into fuel supplies reduces coking in burners. Efficient emulsification means less water needed and more efficient combustion with less coking.
