<p>The prepn. of 1,5-dichloroanthraquinone (I) from 1,5-dinitroanthraquinone (II) by reaction with elementary Cl2 at elevated temps., i.e. 170-260 degrees C, esp. 200-250 degrees C, is effected in the presence of >=50% liq. phthalic anhydride (wrt (III)). The phthalic anhydride is sepd. after the reaction. (I) is a raw material for the prepn. of vat dyestuffs, acid dyes for wool, and disperse dyes, and is obtd. in good yields practically free from by-prods. at relatively low temps. The phthalic anhydride recovered may be re-used.</p> |
