The beach or garden recliner(3) is designed for ease on the stomach, and suitability for sunbathing when lying on the stomach. The top part of the centre of the three parts of the recliner has a raised portion which supports the stomach region of the person reclining. The reclining surface is hinged on one end of a base. At least one connection between the base and the recliner surface enables the angle of the recliner surface to be adjusted and the recliner surface has a flexible layer of mattress, consisting, at least on the raised portion, of a number of parallel, crosswise pads. The cushioning is surrounded by a rectangular, rigid frame with lengthwise bars curved convexly upwards in the upper part of the middle third part of the recliner. An opening in the recliner surface enables the person resting to rest his or her head.
