A method and apparatus for handling and processing first and second interrelated documents (13, 15) positions the first document (13) at a first predetermined location (12), and the second document (15) at a second predetermined location (14) adjacent the first location. Once the first document (13) is transported from the first location into the processing station, the second document (15) is then transferred from the second to the first location, for subsequent transport from such first location to the processing station. The order in which documents are processed is therefore automatically ensured, so that errors can be minimised.
