PURPOSE:To improve the heat cyclefatigue life and creep life of a heat transmission tube by working plastically the tubular inside surface of the weld zone between a tube plate and a heat transmission tube positioned in the butt welded narrow gap thereby decreasing the metallurgical discontinuity between the weld zone and the base matrial. CONSTITUTION:A die tool 23 consisting of segmental dies matching the outside circumferential shape of the stab of a tube plate 12 and a heat transmission tube 16 is disposed in a weld zone 17 formed by butt welding of the plate 12 and the tube 16 and quadrisected dies 24 mounted to the tip of a torch 28 rotatable in the circumferential direction are positioned in the weld zone 17 in the tube if said weld zone 17 is positioned in a narrow gap and plastic working from the outside of the tube is infeasible in a method for producing an intermediate heat exchanger for a nuclear reactor. High pressure gas 26 is intermittently passed in the torch 28 in this state and the dies 24 energized by a spring 27 in the direction to strike with rolling the inside wall near the weld zone 17, whereby the inside surface of the tube is plastically worked. |
