<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture economically ammonium sulfate by utilizing the energy of gas exhausted from an oxidation vessel and the heat of oxidation when an ammonium sulfate soln. prepd. by oxidizing an ammonium sulfite soln. is concentrated to obtain crystalline ammonium sulfate. CONSTITUTION:An ammonium sulfite soln. 4 is fed to an oxidation vessel 1, and highly compressed air (about 6-12kg/cm<3>) 6 is blown with a compressor 5 to oxidize the ammonium sulfite. The resulting ammonium sulfate soln. 7 is sent to crystallizers 2B, 3B and concentrated by circulation through pumps 2P, 3P, heaters 2H, 3H, evaporators 2A, 3A and the crystallizers 2B, 3B to prepare a slurry 11 of ammonium sulfate crystals. The slurry is drawn from the bottoms of the crystallizers 2B, 3B and sent to a purifying stage. A rotary engine 9 is driven through a turbine 8 with gas exhausted from the vessel 1 under high pressure to generate power, and part of the soln. in the vessel 1 is circulated through a pump 13 and the heater 2H to utilize the heat of oxidation generated in the vessel 1 as a heat source for the heater 2H.</p> |
