PURPOSE:To decrease the renewal processing time for replacement, by reducing the movement of arm supporting a magnetic head, through the division of a replacement area into front and back areas. CONSTITUTION:A replacement area 6 is split into two, a front part 6-1 and a back part 6-2. The order of physical area set to a magnetic storage device is as the part 6-1, random access area 5, and the part 6-2. When accessing is continuously kept while keeping the file open, the arm of the magnetic storage device keeps the position accessed just before. Thus, since a random access area 5 is taken continuously, the moving mean value L1 of the arm during random access at on-line processing is a half the random access area length. On the other hand, at a replacement processing, an interval between records corresponding to the areas 6-1, 6-2 is halved than conventional systems, and the moving amount L2 of the arm is halved. |
