PURPOSE:To make a luminous radiation electron tube having a high efficiency and a luminous intensity distribution characteristic similar to that of a usual fluorescent lamp by concentrically installing a cathode and an anode along the outer tube. CONSTITUTION:In an airtight cylindrical outer tube 21 consisting of transparent glass, a thermion-radiating bar-like cathode 22 is installed along the central axis. Besides a cylindrical wire mesh anode 23 is installed concentrically with the outer tube 21. The outer tube 21 is charged with a low-pressure luminous radiation gas 24 such as vaporized mercury. The inner surface of the outer tube 21 is coated with a phosphor 25 as necessary. Owing to the above constitution, electrons are discharged and accelerated homogeneously over the entire length of the tube. Furthermore, the excitation of the luminous radiation gas 24 and the luminous radiation from the gas 24 are homogeneously performed. Accordingly it is possible to make a luminous radiation electron tube having a high efficiency and a luminous intensity distribution characteristic similar to that of a usual fluorescent lamp. |
