PURPOSE:To facilitate the replacement of a recording head and an ink container and to make it possible to perform the accurate positional determination of a head unit while enabling the adaptation to highly detailed recording or color recording, by providing a connection means between adjacent head units arranged on a carriage. CONSTITUTION:In order to fix adjacent head units, a projection 3-a is formed to one side surface of each head unit while a recessed part 3-b having a corresponding shape is formed to the other side surface thereof to constitute a connection means. Therefore, if one head unit 3-1 is preliminarily fixed to a carriage 3-21, the recessed part 3-b of a head unit 3-2 is inlaid with the projection 3-a thereof to connect the head units 3-1, 3-2 and the relative arrangement of the nozzles of all head units is determined on the basis of one head unit. The ink emitted from the nozzle of each head unit is hard to generate the shift in an arrival point at every head and the distance between the heads is constant and, therefore, highly detailed recording or high grade color recording is obtained. |
