PURPOSE:To obtain a fungicide exhibiting excellent fungicidal activity against various kinds of pathogens belonging to basidiomycetes, phycomycetes, ascomycetes, deuteromycetes, bacteria, etc., and useful as an active component for agricultural chemicals or pharmaceuticals, by using a specific silatrane compound as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective fungicide contains a silatrane compound of formula I [R is H or alkyl; X is R, halogen, OH, nitro, cyano, alkylcarbonyl, sulfo, alkylsulfonyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, carboxy, carbamide, (substituted)alkenyl, (substituted)alkynyl, (substituted)phenyl, (substituted)phenoxy, (substituted)di(alkyl)amino, etc.; n is integer of >=1, preferably 1-4; m is 0 or 1], e.g. the compound of formula II as an active component. The compound is a crystalline solid under normal temperature and pressure condition and has a definite melting point and few compounds are viscous material. The agent exhibits strong fungicidal effect against pathogens such as Hypochnus SASAKI, Ophiobolus Miyabeanus, Fusarium oxysporum, Botrytis cinerea, Trichophyton and Staphylococcus aureus.
