PURPOSE:To considerably easily read a prepared picture by raising the brightness level of the prepared picture and displaying at the time of superimposing the white prepared picture on a white image. CONSTITUTION:In a picture generator 10 in which the prescribed prepared picture is superimposed on the image to display, a white discriminating circuit the white color prepared picture of a level above a prescribed brightness level and a voltage addition circuit 13 for enhancing the signal level of the chrominance signals SR, SG, SB of the prepared picture by a prescribed value based on the discriminated result S1 of the white discriminating circuit 11 are provided. Since the signal level of the chrominance signals SR, SG, SB of the prepared picture can be enhanced by the prescribed value by the voltage addition circuit 13, the prepared picture high in the brightness level can be displayed on a display screen. Thereby, the discrimination ability for the prepared picture can be enhanced.
