The bending device for a rod or a pipe comprises a work support (9) having a surface (9a) to bend the material, a support shaft (10) connected to one end of a frame (1), a bender arm (14) connected to the support shaft at one end, a driving mechanism (23) linked to the driven point of the bender arm for imparting the bending force to the bender arm, and a clamp (19) located in conjuction with the bender arm for holding the material tightly together with the bending surface of the work support. The bender arm has a driven point located at a certain distance from one end for receiving a bending force from the driving mechanism. The clamp is movable radially of the support shaft.
