The invention relates to a method for stabilising a bridge platform, in particular of a long-span cable-stayed bridge, against the action of the wind. An arm 5 is placed near a fixed point of the platform 1, such as a pylon 3, and tilts on an axis which is parallel to but separated from the platform. One or more stay cables 11 join the arm, or a retention element 9 fixed to the arm, to at least one point on the platform which is separated from the fixed point, and the arm is tilted in order to increase or decrease the tension in the stay cable or cables 11 so as to exert on the platform a force which opposes that of the wind.
