PURPOSE:To uniformize brightness by condensing light from a light source on the horizontal line of an LCD panel, uniformly scattering the light, synchronizing the light with an input video signal, deflecting the light in a vertical direction and irradiating the LCD panel with the light. CONSTITUTION:This projector is provided with a light condensing and horizontally scattering means 2 for condensing the light from the light source 1 on the horizontal line of the LCD panel and uniformly scattering it, a synchronizing means 9 for synchronizing the light emitted from the means 2 with the input video signal, and a light deflecting means 3 for deflecting the synchronized light in the vertical direction and irradiating the LCD panel with the light. The light made incident on the means 3 is allowed to scan in the vertical direction, so that the LCD panel is scanned by the light and driven by a liquid crystal driving means 8 to display a video in accordance with the content of the video signal from a signal processing means 7. Thus, the LCD panel is irradiated with the uniformized light in the same manner as a surface light source. |
