PRODUCTION OF COATED PAPER

摘要

PURPOSE: To avoid fouling coating equipment and produce a sheet of coated paper at a good operating efficiency by applying water from the side of a coating surface to uncoated regions in the former stage for carrying out the coating and curl correcting treatments while providing the uncoated regions in both selvedges of a continuously running web. CONSTITUTION: Misty water in an amount within the range of 0.5-5g/m<2> is applied to uncoated regions with a gas-liquid mixing type nozzle from the side of a coating surface in the former stage for coating both selvedges on one surface of a sheet of continuously running paper having <=110g/m<2> basis weight with a water-based coating liquid at <=30% solid matter concentration (weight ratio) while providing the uncoated regions in both the selvedges of the paper, drying the coating liquid and then carrying out the coating treatment of the back side of the coated surface with water or the water-based coating liquid or performing the curl correcting treatment with steam. Thereby, a sheet of coated paper is produced without fouling coating equipment with the coating liquid. A sheet of pressure-sensitive copying paper is produced by replacing the water-based coating liquid with a coating liquid consisting essentially of a microcapsule enclosing a colorless electron donative dye therein or a sheet of heat-sensitive recording paper is produced by replacing the colorless electron donative dye with an electron accepting compound such as a phenol derivative capable of developing a color of the dye by heating.
