PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a route search apparatus by which the waiting time of a route search operation is shortened. SOLUTION: When a starting point and a destination point are decided by data from an input devide 13, a route search and guidance device 10 at a navigation apparatus 1 selects and reads out one piece or a plurality of map data respectively containing link data or node data expressing a road around the starting point and that around the destination point, out of a plurality of map data stored in a storage device 12, on the basis of the starting point and of the destination point before the start of a search operation is instructed by an operator, and the data are stored in a main memory 21. After the start of the search operation is instructed by the operator, a route search mechanism at the route search and guidance device 10 searches a recommended route, whose route costs are minimum, out of routes reaching the destination point from the starting point by referring preferentially to the map data stored in the main memory 21 to the map data inside the storage device 12, and the route is displayed on an output device 14. |
