PURPOSE:To prevent recording sheets from being bound in disorder, by releasing an automatic stapling mode while inhibiting the automatic operation of a stapler when a recording sheet having a different size is detected during the automatic stapling mode. CONSTITUTION:During automatic stapling mode, when recording sheets discharged from a copying machine are stored successively into bins 55 in a sorter 20, a jogger moving motor 82 moves an aligning shaft drive unit 95 until a size detecting sensor 93 detects one of size detecting pieces 92 corresponding to the size of the recording sheets which is designated by a control section, and stops the aligning shaft drive unit 95 which is then operated so as to align the recording sheets with the use of an aligning plate 70. Then, a stapler descents successively so as to carry out a binding process. In this case, if a sheet having a size different from the size of the recording sheets stored in the bins 55 is discharged and stored, the automatic stapling mode is automatically is released. Thus, it is possible to prevent recording sheets from being unexpectedly bound in disorder. |
