PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid corrosion of a separator by phosphoric acid held on a reservoir plate, and achieve a stable operation for a long period. SOLUTION: In a device in which unit cells each comprising matrix 1 to hold phosphoric acid held between a fuel electrode comprising a fuel electrode catalyst layer 2 formed on a fuel electrode base material 4, and an air electrode catalyst layer 3 formed on an air electrode base material 5, and reservoir plates 6, 7A disposed on outer surfaces of both electrodes are laminated with each other through separators 8, plural air communication grooves 10 having apertures in a side surface on the air entrance side and in a side surface on the air exit side are provided on an air electrode side surface of the reservoir plate 7A disposed on the air electrode side, plural grooves 12 closed to the side surface are provided on a separator side surface, and a water repellent finishing is applied to a rib 11a in contact with the separator 8 having the groove 12. |
