Pointer display instrument for automobile dashboard

The display instrument has a light source (6,7) positioned on either side of the pointer (3) and attached to the latter for simultaneous rotation via the pointer shaft (2). Each light source can be used to provide a narrow beam (8) for illuminating a wedge-shaped area of the display instrument face (1) at the side of the pointer. A light conductor at the rear of the display instrument face may have a central opening for passage of the pointer shaft, with the attached light sources, light from the latter radially coupled to the light conductor.
