Gyroscopic actuator for observation satellite attitude control

The actuator has a support mounted on a base (10) by a bearing to allow the support to rotate about a first axis (20). The support carries a gyroscopic head (34) driven at high speed about a second axis (32) orthogonal to the first axis. The head has two discs (36) connected by a shaft with a diameter much less than the diameter of the discs. The shaft runs in bearings (30) in the support.
