摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to surely coat electrode extension parts by insulating layers patterned to simple shapes in the substrate overhanging part for IC packaging of a COG(chip-on-glass) system liquid crystal device and to surely set input terminals to an exposed state. SOLUTION: The insulating layers 14 for coating the extension parts 7c of electrodes 7a and 7b are formed simultaneously with the formation of the insulating layers 8a and 9a in the liquid crystal region part E of a substrate 3a. The electrolytic corrosion of the electrode extension parts 7c is prevented by these insulating layers 14. The electrode extension parts 7c are formed to exist more to the liquid crystal region part E side than the outer edge line X-X of the packaging region J for the IC 13, by which the pattern shapes of the insulating layers 14 may be simplified. The insulating layers 14 on the substrate overhanging part H are so formed that the outer edge line 14c thereof exists near the outer edge line X-X of the IC packaging region J. As a result, the region where the input terminals 12 are exposed outside may be widely assured.
