PURPOSE: A lock detect apparatus of a multiple media digital broadcasting receiver is to realize a general-purpose lock detector adapted to be applied to a channel equalizing portion as well as a carrier recovery portion. CONSTITUTION: A lock detect apparatus of a multiple media digital broadcasting receiver, which has a carrier recovery portion and a channel equalizing portion, comprises a symbol deciding portion(105) for producing a deciding symbol according to a baseband digital signal output from the carrier recovery portion; and a lock detecting portion(106) for deciding a lock control signal according to the deciding symbol output from the symbol deciding portion and the baseband digital signal output from the carrier recovery portion and then outputting to the carrier recovery portion and the channel equalizing portion. In the apparatus, the lock detecting portion comprises an MSE(Mean Squared Error) calculating portion for calculating MSE of a symbol unit from the deciding symbol of the symbol deciding portion; a threshold calculating portion for comparing the MSE of the symbol unit with other previously calculated MSE to detect whether satisfying a locking condition.
