PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning soil and/or groundwater which is capable of relatively inexpensively, rapidly and efficiently cleaning even the contaminated soil and groundwater concentrically existing or existing over wide area under buildings or in deep strata. SOLUTION: This method for cleaning the soil and/or the groundwater consists in forming an iron-containing layer within the soil contaminated with organic halogen compounds and decomposing the organic halogen compounds in the soil and/or the groundwater by bringing this iron-containing layer into contact with the groundwater and/or soil water content flowing in the soil. After a pilot hole 13 is formed transversely in the soil 10, an iron powder- containing slurry is packed into this hole 13, by which the iron-containing layer 14 is formed. |
