The measurement device has a light barrier (11) across the flow of crops, especially grain, and a signal processor (CP) which derives the conveyed crop edge separation on conveyor blades from the light-dark signal times, taking into account the blade separation and blade thickness. The conveyed crop volume is derived from the edge distance and the cross-section of the conveyor chute. The signal processor is connected to further measurement devices (21,21A,NS), from whose signals the inclination and/or shape of the crop surface is/are determined. An accurate conveyed volume is determined from its direction and position relative to the light beam.
