DISPLAY DEVICE FOR INDICATING DOWN-SCALING STATE OF SCREEN AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A display device and a method for controlling the same are provided to inform a user that a current screen is down-scaled to induce the user to set the screen to a resolution supported by the display device. CONSTITUTION: A display device includes an OSD controller(23) for displaying OSD on a panel, and a control part(21) for the OSD controller. If input image signals have a frequency in an over-range beyond a preset resolution, a scaler(19) is controlled to transmit the input image signals to a panel driver after partially omitting the image signals by a predetermined interval, under the control of the controller. The control part controls the OSD controller to display OSD indicating over-range to the panel.
