<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for disposing information media, by each of which the information media can be discarded efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: Personal identification information is stored in an IC chip 50 and which is housed in a recovery box B together with documents in which confidential information is recorded. An administrative computer of a control center CC specifies a user on the basis of IC identifier data of the IC chip 50 in the recovery box B conveyed to a treatment site and sends the information on the specified user to a treatment site computer 25 of the treatment site. The computer 25 sends the read-out personal identification information to a user computer 20 together with the IC identifier data on the basis of the information related to the user.
