<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for providing services which can enhance the anonymity of a user. <P>SOLUTION: A terminal of a service provider generates/issues a user ID for a service user, generates a certificate for certifying the authenticity of the user ID, and stores personal information on the service user which is necessary for providing the service, by associating the personal information with the user ID. When a terminal of a user designates another user to use the service provided by the service provider, the terminal acquires a user ID and a certificate. The authenticity of the user ID is verified by the certificate, and the user ID is presented to the terminal of the service provider.
