A spacial processing part (2) generates an unsharp signal (US) from an input signal (IS). A target level establishing part (4) establishes a target level value (L) for establishing a range in which the intensity of the visual processing is adjusted. An effect adjusting part (5) combines, in accordance with an externally established effect adjustment signal (MOD), the target level value (L) with the unsharp signal (US) to generate a combined signal (MUS). A visual processing part (3) outputs an output signal (OS) in accordance with the input signal (IS) and combined signal (MUS). In this way, it is arranged that the intensity of the visual processing can be changed.
