PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst of a porous inorg.-org. composite useful as a catalyst for the hydration reaction of an olefin and excellent in handling properties, mechanical strength and chemical resistance. SOLUTION: A fluorine-containing org. substance (e.g.; a perfluorocarbonsulfonic compd. or the like) is supported and fixed on the pore surfaces of an inorg. porous material (e.g.; silica porous particles with an average particle size of 1 μm-1 mm, a void ratio of 0.20-0.90 and an average pore size of 10-5,000 nm) to obtain a catalyst for the hydration reaction of an olefin. |
