SOLUTION: The translucent layer 2 of the phase change type optical recording medium having a phase change type optical recording layer 4 and the translucent layer 2 having a function to regulate the light absorptivity of the phase change type optical recording layer on a substrate 1 consists of a dispersion film formed by dispersing metallic particulates 22 into a dielectric base material 21 and is so formed as to satisfy the conditions nm <km <3> /100 and 1.3<ns /nm <12 when the refractive index of the metallic particulates 22 is defined as nm , the attenuation constant as km and the refractive index of the dielectric base material 21 as ns .
