Broom comprising a housing (2) having a suction nozzle (3) with a motorized brush (4) and, a dust compartment (9) containing a filter (10) and bounded by at least one transverse front wall (11) in which an opening (12) communicates with said nozzle and a transverse rear wall (13) in which an outlet opening (14) communicates with a suction orifice (15) of a casing (16) containing a motorized centrifugal fan (17). According to the invention, the rear wall (13) is positioned a short distance from the filter, and the outlet opening (14) feeds into an intermediate chamber (26) of vertical axis, in the upper region of which is an exit (27) which fits onto the suction orifice of the casing, said casing (16) thus being positioned flat on the housing. The invention applies to electrical household appliances.
