A method for managing images in a mobile communication terminal is provided to enhance convenience by eliminating annoyance on individual manual classification of the captured images in the conventional. A method for managing images in a mobile communication terminal comprises the following several steps. The mobile communication terminal detects faces from a captured photo and checks whether there exists a face in the captured photos(S21,S22). If so, the mobile communication terminal checks whether there exists a previously stored photo in a people photo folder(S23,S24). If so, the mobile communication terminal matches an extracted face feature value of the captured photo with that of the stored photo, calculates a similarity value and compares the calculated similarity with a threshold(S25,S26). If the similarity value is higher than the threshold, the mobile communication terminal stores the data on the captured photo at the people face folder which stores photos with the face feature value higher than the threshold(S27).
