METHOD FOR MULTICAST PACKET FILTERING OF INTERACTIVE CABLE BROADCASTING RECEIVER AND METHOD FOR MULTICAST PACKET TRANSFER USING THE SAME

A method for filtering multicast packet in a bidirectional cable broadcasting receiver and a method for transferring the multicast packet using the same are provided to transfer the multicast packet between the bidirectional cable broadcasting receiver and a cable card appropriately. It is checked whether a header of a received Ethernet packet has a multicast address(S31). If the header of the Ethernet packet has the multicast address, it is checked over whether or not an IP packet header is a multicast IP packet(S33). If the IP packet header is the multicast IP, it is checked whether the multicast IP packet has an effective multicast group ID(S35). If the multicast IP packet has the effective multicast group ID, the Ethernet packet is determined to be an effective multicast packet(S37).
