<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To warm a catalyst of a hybrid vehicle at an early stage upon a request for warming the catalyst, while solving the problem of a secondary battery being overcharged because of catalyst warming control. <P>SOLUTION: The hybrid vehicle includes an engine 12, an electric motor 14 and a generator 13. If there is a request to warm the catalyst, the power of the engine 12 is increased so that the amount of exhaust gas discharged from the engine 12 is increased, and the electric power generated by the generator 13 is increased so as to keep torque for driving wheels from increasing. In this case, the electric power inputted to the electric motor 14 is controlled, while the remaining rechargeable amount of the secondary battery 20 is taken into consideration, whereby the electric power charged to the secondary battery 20 from the generator 13 is limited so that the charging capacity of the secondary battery 20 is not exceeded. This allows early warming of the catalyst while solving the problem of the secondary battery 20 being overcharged because of the catalyst warming control. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
