A recoil system (32) for a track assembly (14) having a track roller frame (28) and an idler (20) is provided. The recoil system (32) includes a spring (62), a track adjust cylinder (48), an end plate (68) and a track adjust piston (46) received in the track adjust cylinder (48). The track adjust cylinder (48) and the track adjust piston (46) are movable in first and second directions (38, 40) in response to movement of the idler (20) with movement of the track adjust cylinder (48) in a second direction (40) compressing the spring (62) against the end plate (68). The track adjust cylinder (48) is adapted to rotate with the first end (60) of the spring (62) relative to the track adjust piston (46) as the spring (62) compresses and extends in response to movement of the track adjust cylinder (48) in the first and second directions (38, 40) and wherein the second end (66) of the spring is fixed against rotation relative to the end plate (68). |
