A method for unwinding an information carrier, in particular a film, from one hub and winding the information carrier onto another hub, with the hubs being disposed in a casing and mounted on hub carriers supported for rotation about respective axes of rotation and positioned in parallel relationship, includes the step of moving the hub carriers relative to the casing during winding operation along a predetermined curved path in the direction towards the one hub from which the information carrier is unwound.
