The solid-liquid matrix such as waste water sludge which has a structure is dewatered by simultaneous application of heat and pressure. The application takes place for 0.01 to about 20 seconds at a pressure of 45-6000 pounds per square inch(psi) at a temperature of 21-1000 deg C.
