A disc &c. shaped resistor of ceramic material containing electrically conductive constituents (e.g. carbon) has an integral zone extending inwards from its curved surface in which zone there are no conductive constituents. Metal terminal layers covering the flat ends of the resistor extend outwards to the inner edge of this zone which may be produced by heating the body briefly in an oxygen-containing atmosphere. A composite resistor may be formed by putting a stack of these resistors in a sealed housing with their terminal layers in contact. |
