Fault detection - for sliver from carding and combing machines

Determination of the number of defects and impurities in a fleece from a carding engine or combing machine, by withdrawing a test strip after the fleece has been converted to a strip or solver, and subjecting it to a stretching step and thereafter counting the defects and impurities in the drawn strip. An apparatus is used comprising a drawing device for the reception, drawing and delivering of the test strip and a measuring unit with a sensing device installed on a part of the stretched strip, responding to a structural change of the strip due to defects and adherent impurities in the sliver.
