<p>The isotherm imager, for producing a thermal picture of stationary objects, has an optomechanical system (2, 5, 6) between the objective lens (1) and the target of the IR camera tube (4). The optomechanical system periodically moves the incident radiation over the target so that as far as the camera is concerned the temperature of the object is constantly changing and it produces an output video signal whose amplitude is proportional to the rate of change of the temperature thereby enabling an object of constant temperature to be viewed without the relatively fast decay of the video signal that would occur without this scanning motion. The electron beam is moved to compensate for this motion so that picture flicker is eliminated.</p> |
