1510674 Magnetic composition for cleaning the skin R LAGUERRE 18 April 1975 [23 April 1974 9 April 1975] 16193/75 Headings A5B and A5R [Also in Divisions C5 and H1] In a method for cleaning the skin, a magnetically attractable particulate substance e.g. finely divided iron or iron-nickel alloy is applied to the surface of the skin and massaged so that it becomes mixed with dead skin cells and pollutants, then the mixture of particulate substance and pollutants is removed by bring- ing a magnet into close proximity with the skin to attract the particulate substance carrying with it the pollutants. The particulate substance preferably has a particle size of 10 to 80 microns, and may be in the form of a composition with a topically acceptable carrier e.g. physiological saline or a conventional cosmetic cream, gel, lotion or paste, and optionally a non-magnetic abrasive powder such as powdered quartz or pumice. The magnet is suitably a permanent magnet having a narrow air gap e.g. 1-2 mm. with a groove between the outer faces of the poles to collect the attracted material. The outer surface of the magnet may be coated with plastics material, and the interior hollow in the magnet may be filled with plastics material to prevent extraneous matter getting into this space. |
