A water cooled cable installation is designed so that it is not necessary to switch off the supply power immediately if there is a breakdown in the circulating system. It consists of a three phase cable installation with three parallel conductors provided with a cooling agent return path. The temperature of the cooling agent is reduced at a cooling station. The circulating pump is fitted with a bypass pipe (9) which is opened and closed by a valve. There is a cooling station (5) at the beginning and end of the cable system. There are also three separate return pipes for the cooling agents.
